It will take you longer to gain levels.

You will die often.

Your death will not always be a fair one.

Expect to hear trash talking.

It's kill or be killed, trust no one.
So far there is no real reward or penalty for a Player Kill, but this may change as aoc gold matures.

Death and Spawn Points

When you die in aoc gold a screen will come up allowing you to Resurrect yourself to the nearest "Spawn Point". You may also scroll through other Spawn Points if you wish to be resurrected to a different location.

Throughout the game you will find spawn points, as indicated in the image below. Each time you discover a spawn point it will become selectable on your Resurrection screen upon your death. Be sure to get close enough to each spawn point you see so that it counts as a discovery.

In addition to being transported to a resurrection point, when you die in aoc gold you will leave a tombstone at the location of your death. Due to your untimely demise, some of your stats will be reduced for a period of time. However, if you retrieve your tombstone your statistics will return to normal.

Guilds

Whether you decide to play PvE or PvP, many players enjoy the company of "Guilds" (sometimes called "Clans"). Guilds are a group of players that have come together to for any number of reasons, such as: friendship, grouping, to give and receive help, trade resources and to raid. Joining a Guild can have many benefits, but can also be time consuming if the Guild has mandatory raid, building or warfare requirements.

While playing aoc gold you may receive many guild invitations. Although it may be flattering, it is not recommended that you join the first guild that invites you. People who join guild after guild tend to get a bad reputation and are known as "guild hoppers". When selecting a guild make sure they are a good fit based on common goals, hours of play, interests, personality and mentality. You may want to cruise some guild websites before making a decision. Joining a guild is completely optional.
